The U.S. Department of Health & Human Services Office for Civil Rights announced on March 21st that Phase 2 of HIPAA audits have officially begun. Over the next few years, covered entities and their business associates will be subjected to desk and on-site audits for compliance with the HIPAA privacy, security and breach notification rules.
